If you’re like me—a hopeless romantic for places that radiate charm and make you feel like you’ve stepped into a love story—then Le Coucou in NYC is where you need to be.
Let’s talk about this place: not only is it a French restaurant with a Miguelangelo star (yes, you heard that right), but it’s also the kind of spot that changes your life one bite at a time. The moment you walk in, you know you’ve landed somewhere truly special.
The service? Impeccable! Our waiter was a superstar, guiding us through the menu with such passion and detail that I felt like I was attending a mini food masterclass. He insisted we try the Ris de veau à l’estragon—veal sweetbreads with cream, tarragon, and maitake mushrooms. And, wow, was he right! It was the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes with every bite because it’s that good.
For the main course, there was zero debate. The duck was calling my name. The Canette aux abricots (duck breast with apricots, accompanied by a “gibelotte” with chanterelles) was out-of-this-world delicious. And, of course, we couldn’t resist the Maine lobster with pepper sauce and pommes dauphine. Let’s just say it went far beyond my already sky-high expectations.
Now, let’s talk dessert. Since my birthday is right around the corner, I figured, why not celebrate early? We ordered the Gâteaux au fromage “Coucou” (chiffon cheesecake with strawberries and vanilla), but as a delightful twist, they surprised us with the Marjolaine—a hazelnut dacquoise with chocolate ganache. Unexpected but very welcome! It was like getting an extra gift on top of dessert.
Whether you’re looking for a late-night spot, planning a romantic date, or when you're just feeling extra and stunning !!
Le Coucou has you covered. Dreamy food, a stunning atmosphere, and service that makes you feel like you deserve it —what more could you ask for in NYC?
